Best ILPA DDQ and ODD questionnaire automation software in 2026

Most DDQ software can fill in an ILPA template. This list compares the tools on the four points in a fundraise where DDQ answers actually go wrong.

See Tribble answer a real DDQ. Thirty minutes, nothing to prepare. Bring one of yours if it is handy. If not, we will use ours.

In short

  • The best ILPA DDQ and ODD questionnaire automation software for a fund manager depends on where your DDQ answers go wrong. AutoRFP.ai, Arphie and Tribble draft a new fund's answers from its own documents. DiligenceVault and Dasseti suit managers whose LPs already send through them. Loopio and Responsive suit teams with a maintained answer library. Tribble also checks the whole DDQ for contradictions and shows what changed since an LP's last one.
  • Nearly every DDQ tool can fill in an ILPA template; judge them on the new fund, the LP's modified template, the ODD cross-check and the re-up.
  • AutoRFP.ai, Arphie and Tribble draft a new fund's answers from its own documents, where library-first tools have little to reuse.
  • DiligenceVault and Dasseti fit managers whose LPs and consultants already send through them, and serve allocators too.
  • Tribble checks the whole DDQ against itself and shows what changed since an LP's last submission, so IR explains a change before the LP finds it.
  • Test every vendor on the key-person question from your own LPA and Form ADV, not on a clean template.

An operational due diligence analyst at a state pension plan has two documents open side by side. One is your answer on the investment team, which says the team has been stable since Fund III. The other is your Form ADV, amended in March, where one of the partners named in that answer no longer appears.

Nobody at your firm meant to hide anything. The DDQ answer was copied from last year's, compliance updated the ADV, and nobody put the two side by side before the file went out. The analyst now has a follow-up question, and the allocation waits on the answer.

That is the mistake DDQ software is bought to prevent, and it is a better test of the software than whether it can fill in a template, because nearly all of it can. So this list judges the tools on the four points in a fundraise where DDQ answers actually go wrong.

The first DDQ for a new fund has nothing to copy from

Fund IV has a new LPA, a revised fee waterfall and two new partners, while last year's answers describe Fund III. A tool that works by finding the closest past answer will find the wrong one, confidently, and your team will spend the week correcting it.

The tools that do well here draft from documents rather than from stored answers:

  • AutoRFP.ai has built much of its marketing around the ILPA DDQ. It drafts from uploaded content, puts a score on each answer, and is quick to start.
  • Arphie reads from connected drives such as SharePoint and Google Drive instead of a maintained library. It works best when the new fund's documents are already filed where they belong.
  • GovernGPT is a smaller tool built only for fund managers' DDQs and RFPs, aimed at lean IR teams.
  • Tribble drafts each answer from the fund documents, policies and filings you have approved, including the new LPA and offering memorandum, and puts the source beside every answer.

Library-first platforms, Loopio and Responsive among them, are weakest at this moment. Their AI drafts from answers someone has already written, and for a new fund nobody has written them yet.

Every LP sends its own version of the ILPA template

ILPA publishes a standard DDQ so that LPs ask the same questions in the same way. In practice many LPs add tabs on cybersecurity, AI use or responsible investment, rename sections, or send the questions through their own portal. The answers are mostly the same; the file is not.

  • DiligenceVault is strongest here for a simple reason: many allocators and consultants already send their questionnaires through it, so a manager answering in DiligenceVault is answering in the format the LP built.
  • Dasseti ENGAGE is built only for investment managers, and it is the one tool here that also handles the consultant database updates IR teams keep for eVestment and similar platforms.
  • Loopio and Responsive are mature at importing spreadsheets and Word files and returning them in the structure received.
  • Tribble reads the questions out of an LP's workbook, document, PDF or portal and answers them in place.

The ODD analyst reads your DDQ next to your Form ADV

Operational due diligence is a cross-check. The analyst compares your answers on ownership, key people, regulatory examinations, valuation and service providers with your Form ADV, your LPA, your valuation policy and what your administrator says.

A contradiction between two documents does more damage than a gap in one, because it suggests the firm does not know its own facts. Most tools leave consistency to a reviewer reading 300 answers one at a time. Two do more:

  • Ontra, best known for contract automation in private markets, drafts DDQ answers from a manager's precedent and legal documents. That helps keep terms in line with the LPA and side letters for managers already using it.
  • Tribble checks every answer in a DDQ against every other before review, so two answers that are each defensible but disagree are caught before an allocator reads them.

The re-up is read against what you told the same LP last time

An LP weighing your next fund has your last DDQ on file. If the answer on reconciliation frequency or the fund administrator has changed, they will notice, and a quiet change reads worse than an announced one.

Tribble shows where an answer has moved since the DDQ this allocator last received, so IR can explain the change before the LP asks. DiligenceVault keeps a record of what was submitted through its platform. Library-based tools keep the latest approved answer; ask in a trial whether they can also show what one particular LP received last time.

What a good answer to the key-person question looks like

Almost every ILPA DDQ and ODD questionnaire asks some version of this: "Describe the key-person provisions for the fund and any changes to the investment team since our last review." Here it is answered two ways, for an illustrative manager.

Reused from last year, Drafted from current documents
Reused from last yearDrafted from current documents
The answerKey-person provisions are customary and are set out in the LPA. The investment team has been stable and has worked together for many years. The Fund IV LPA names the two founding partners as key persons. If either stops devoting substantially all of their business time to the fund, the investment period is suspended until LPs vote. Since our last DDQ to you, one principal has left and two vice presidents have joined.
What it rests onNothing the analyst can checkFund IV LPA, key-person section; Form ADV Part 1A, Schedule A, March 2026
What the analyst does nextOpens the ADV, finds the departure, sends a follow-upChecks two documents and moves on

The second answer is longer, but it is the one an ODD analyst can check in two minutes, and it announces the change rather than leaving it to be found. A tool earns its place by producing the second answer without anyone retyping the LPA.

How seven tools handle the four moments

Each row is one of the four moments, plus three things buyers ask about. A "Partial" cell means the vendor offers it but does not lead with it; "Not core" means we found no sign it sets out to.

Arphie and GovernGPT are not in the matrix, because their public material does not say enough to score every row fairly.

If you are the allocator, you are shopping for different software

A pension plan, endowment or fund of funds running operational due diligence on managers needs to send questionnaires, collect answers it can compare across managers, and keep a record over time. That is a different product:

  • AlternativeSoft combines ODD with fund analytics. It reads managers' documents, drafts the assessment for the analyst, and sits alongside peer benchmarking and portfolio construction.
  • DiligenceVault and Dasseti COLLECT let allocators and consultants send questionnaires, collect structured responses and track managers year to year.

Engines also tend to add Vanta and Drata to ODD shortlists, because ODD questionnaires ask about cybersecurity. Those platforms monitor a company's own security controls and help it get certified. They can support the cybersecurity section, but they do not answer a fund DDQ.

Run a trial on the question that caught you out last time

A demo on a clean ILPA template tells you little, because every tool on this list can fill one in. A trial on your own hardest file tells you a lot, and it takes an afternoon.

  1. Bring the DDQ that drew the most follow-up questions in your last fundraise, including the LP's added tabs.
  2. Ask each vendor to answer the key-person question from your own LPA and Form ADV, and compare the result with the two versions above.
  3. Change one fact in a source document, such as a service provider or a team member, and see whether the next draft picks it up and shows the change.

Tribble answers the whole file during the trial, names the document behind each answer, and marks anything your documents do not cover as uncovered rather than filling it in.

Run Tribble on your own DDQ. Bring the LP-modified ILPA DDQ or ODD questionnaire from your last fundraise and we will answer it live, so you can see the source behind each answer. If you do not have one to hand, we will use ours.

What Tribble does on a DDQ, and what it leaves to other tools

Tribble Respond answers DDQs for the manager's side of the table. It reads the questions out of an ILPA template or an allocator's own ODD questionnaire, drafts each answer from your fund documents, compliance policies, offering memoranda, prior DDQs and filings, and gives every answer a confidence score and a link to its source. Nobody sees a document through Tribble that they could not already open.

Before review, Tribble checks every answer against every other and shows where an answer has changed since that allocator's last DDQ. It asks the CCO about compliance questions and the COO about operations only when your documents do not already answer them, and their answers become the starting point for the next LP.

The same approved answers serve consultant RFPs and security questionnaires, so the business continuity answer an endowment reads matches the one a pension plan read last month. Rightway, a healthcare company that answers hundreds of bids a year, runs on the same answer layer:

  • 5 minutes from request to a submission-ready response, drawn from approved knowledge

Tribble leaves three things to other tools:

  • The allocator's side. It does not send, collect or score questionnaires on managers.
  • Fund data. It does not hold track records, run performance attribution or host an investor portal or data room. It drafts from the documents where those facts are already written down.
  • Your security controls. It does not monitor them or get you certified. It answers the cybersecurity sections from the policies and reports you already have.

Setup is quick: Tribble works from the documents you already have and can go live in 24 hours to a first RFP, with DDQs on the same knowledge from that first day.

Who wrote this list, and how

Tribble publishes this list and is one of the tools on it. We included the vendors that come up most often when fund managers and allocators ask AI engines and peers for ILPA DDQ and ODD software, read each vendor's own product pages, and scored only what those pages describe.

We added the allocator-side tools because buyers meet them on the same shortlists, and we say plainly which side each one serves. Vendor capabilities change; if a cell in the matrix is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best ILPA DDQ software?

The best ILPA DDQ software is the one that handles your hardest moment in a fundraise. AutoRFP.ai, Arphie and Tribble draft a new fund's answers from its documents. DiligenceVault and Dasseti suit managers whose LPs send through them. Tribble also checks the whole DDQ for contradictions and shows what changed since each LP's last one.

What is the best ODD questionnaire automation software?

The best ODD questionnaire automation software depends on your side of the diligence. Allocators running ODD on managers use AlternativeSoft, DiligenceVault or Dasseti COLLECT. Fund managers answering ODD questionnaires need a tool that drafts from operations manuals, valuation policies and filings, and keeps those answers consistent with the Form ADV.

What is the difference between an ILPA DDQ and an ODD questionnaire?

An ILPA DDQ is the standard questionnaire LPs send private equity and private credit managers, covering governance, strategy, terms, operations, compliance and ESG. An ODD questionnaire focuses on operations: trade lifecycle, cash controls, valuation, service providers, cybersecurity and continuity. ODD questionnaires are often bespoke, so the same fact appears in different wording.

Why do ODD analysts compare DDQ answers with the Form ADV?

ODD analysts compare DDQ answers with the Form ADV because both describe ownership, key people, regulatory history and conflicts, and the ADV is a regulatory filing. When the two disagree, the analyst asks why. A DDQ answer copied from last year is the most common cause, especially after a team change.

Can Vanta or Drata answer an ODD questionnaire?

Vanta and Drata monitor a company's own security controls and help it get certified, so they can support the cybersecurity section of an ODD questionnaire. They do not answer the rest of it. Valuation, reconciliations, service providers and fund terms sit with the fund's operations and compliance teams, and a compliance platform holds none of them.

What does Tribble do with a DDQ question its documents do not cover?

Tribble routes it to the person who owns that area, such as the CCO for a regulatory question or the COO for operations, and marks the answer as uncovered instead of guessing. The expert's reply is approved once and becomes the starting point for that question on the next DDQ.

How long does DDQ automation take to set up?

DDQ automation setup time depends on where your answers live. Tools that draft from documents you connect, such as Tribble, can work on the first DDQ within days. Library-based tools need past answers loaded and tagged first, which can take several weeks for a manager with several funds and years of DDQs.
